Professor Efstathia Bura as Co-Editor-in-Chief of ISR

The International Statistical Institute (ISI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Efstathia Bura as Co-Editor-in-Chief of International Statistical Review (ISR), effective January 1, 2024. Professor Bura, renowned for her contributions to statistical research at the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien), brings a wealth of experience to this role.

In her new position, Professor Bura will contribute to the ISI's mission of advancing the field of statistics globally. Her extensive expertise and commitment to international collaboration align with the ISI's goals.

Esfathia Aura leads the Applied Statistics Research Unit (ASTAT) at the Institute of Statistics and Mathematical Methods in Economics within the Faculty of Mathematics and Geoinformation at the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien). Her work focuses on dimension reduction in regression and classification, high-dimensional statistics, multivariate analysis, and applications in biostatistics, econometrics, and legal statistics.

It is with immense pleasure and genuine admiration that we extend our greatest thanks to Professor Scott H. Holan for his outstanding contribution as co-editor-in-chief of the International Statistical Review and his efforts for the journal. His tenure has been nothing short of exemplary, reflecting his unwavering commitment to advancing the frontiers of statistical sciences. Professor Holan's expertise in Bayesian methodology, environmental and ecological statistics, machine learning, official statistics, spatial statistics, and spatio-temporal models has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the academic landscape.

As an Elected Member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI), Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS), and a Fellow of the American Statistical Association (ASA), Professor Holan's accolades speak volumes about the depth of his knowledge and the profound impact of his work.
