The ISI World Statistics Congresses(WSCs) are the flagship events of the ISI, characterized by a rich Scientific Programme, a unique Social and Cultural Programme, an Administrative Programme, Short Courses Programme, Satellite Meetings, and Awards Ceremony.
The WSCs and their associated events are the highpoint of activities of the ISI. These
- Are highly valued by our membership
- Provide opportunities for members to meet and network.
- Takes place once every two years in different countries and cities/venues.
During this event, all our Associations, Committees, members, and participants involved in statistics worldwide, come together to participate in the many different activities of WSC for an entire week, and in associated activities immediately before or after that week.
Though the ISI organises WSCs, we work closely with the venue country’s National Statistics Office and Society.
Each WSC has a rich Scientific Programme, which is grouped into two types of sessions:
- Invited paper sessions (IPS)
- Contributed and posters sessions (CPS)
A full Administrative Programme includes meetings of the various groups of the ISI and its Associations:
- Executive committees
- General assemblies
This includes special interest meetings relevant to the particular WSC.
The Social Programme makes the WSC an event to remember and gives participants a flavour of the culture of the host country. This programme also includes daytime activities for accompanying persons.
These are associated with the WSC and they take place in or close to the host city before and after the main WSC week.
They combine with the WSC to provide an overall outstanding international statistical event which is memorable in every way.
Short Course Programme
Short Courses are held two days before the World Statistics Congress. They are organized by the ISI with the support of participating institutions.
During this programme our highly regarded instructors helps participants develop the analytical and critical thinking needed to be adaptive and responsive to the dynamics of a rapidly changing world.
In the WSC Awards Ceremony, ISI & Associations recognise, celebrate and honour those who have made outstanding contributions to the field of Statistics and Data Science.

Regional conferencesGeneral Principles for an ISI RSC
Our Regional Statistical Conferences serve as a platform to promote statistics and the ISI in the world, each time in another region.
The ISI invites you to the 64th World Statistics Congress to be held in Ottawa in July 2023. We welcome Partners and Exhibitors to join us at this biennial event as we gather statisticians and data scientists from around the world. We will meet in the wonderful Shaw Centre, in Ottawa, and will also offer a virtual option for connecting with the wider international community. Every financial commitment you make as a Partner or Exhibitor makes the WSC possible, counts towards an optimally shaped event, and makes it affordable to the statistical community worldwide.
