The International Statistical Institute invites young ISI members to submit applications for the opportunity to participate as ISI Young Ambassador in IBC 2022 to be held in Riga, Latvia from 11–15 July 2022.
The funding for this opportunity is a joint initiative of the ISI and the International Biometric Society (IBS). This call is open to all young ISI members, there will be at least one recipient from a developing country. The selected ISI Young Ambassadors to IBS will participate in the IBC 2022 and represent the ISI to help promote collaboration between the young statisticians of the ISI and IBS. Selected applicants may be invited to present their work at the IBC 2022.
Selection criteria
The Selection Committee will base its evaluation on the following criteria:
- Applicant’s personal motivation, the quality of and demonstration of high interest and active participation in the ISI and IBS initiatives.
- Applicants who have obtained their most recent statistics qualification in the last ten years, i.e., their PhD (or latest degree in statistics) was awarded after 1 January 2012.
- Preference is given to applicants who have not previously attended the International Biometric Conference.
- Priority is given to those who have not been previously funded.
Included in the funding
- Registration for IBC 2022.
- Return airfare to Riga, Latvia based on economy class travel.
- An allowance covering maximum of six nights for reasonable accommodation.
- Visa costs.
Guidelines for the application
Submissions should be made online using the submission form below, and should include:
- The applicant’s submitted abstract for IBC 2022.
- Motivation of up to 250 words indicating how participation in the 2022 IBC will promote positive interaction between ISI and IBS and the applicant’s personal career. Please check spelling and grammar carefully.
- The applicant’s CV of up to two pages.

The deadline for the Call for Applications for ISI Young Ambassadors to 11 - 15 July 2022 - 31st International Biometric Conference (IBC2022) has been extended until Monday 14 March, 2022.
- 29 April 2022 – Author Notification
The time period for submitting applications ends on the given date at 24.00 CET
Note: The selection process may take some months to be completed. During this period, no information will be released.
