The webinar will explore how Statisticians can help each other and official statistics develop via voluntary professional statistical societies and networks at global, national, and regional levels. Matthew Shearing, the Co-Chair of the ISI’s Capacity Building Committee will present the ISI’s ongoing capacity building initiatives. Discussion will focus on how Statisticians and institutions from across different sectors in society can best support each other based on our shared passion for the potential of statistical science to lead a better world. This is your opportunity to better understand the ISI and its Associations (such as the International Association of Official Statistics) and the benefits of membership. You will also be able to help shape the ISI’s capacity building work plan and help ensure planning for the World Statistics Congress in 2023 optimises its impact for the global statistical system.
Matthew Shearing is an elected member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI) and Co-Chair of its Capacity Building Committee. Matthew is a consultant on capacity building for the UN, World Bank, and other institutions, and has over 20 years of experience across the globe in developing official statistics and improving the management and impact of data in decision-making more widely. He is a Co-Founder of the NIRAS Digital Futures Hub and of the Online Privacy Foundation.
