You will have seen yesterday’s announcement from Ada that she will retire next July. After 12 years as Director she has earned a well-deserved rest, and I think it was only a coincidence that she chose to retire soon after I took up the Presidency! In fact it is good to have this now at the beginning of the two years, as I can spend time with her successor ‘on-boarding’ them to the ways of the ISI.
I have known Ada for many years, in fact I first met her when she worked at the CBS and we attended Eurostat meetings together, and she supported me when I was IAOS President before I joined the EC. We have always got on very well, and I am sure my predecessors will agree that she has been dedicated to the ISI and supportive to us all.
As you would expect, the EC has begun to set the ball rolling for the recruitment of Ada’s successor, not an easy task. We are hoping to advertise the post in January. Please let me know if you would like to see the information pack when it is ready, which includes the job description etc. I would appreciate it very much if all members can start thinking about people who might be able to take over this role. We will need someone who can take forward our new strategic plan, and address the challenges of the next few years.
Steve Penneck
ISI President
