IASE News Items September:


1.  Adam Molnar reports about the IASE/IAOS joint satellite conference in Macao and the IASE meetings in Hong Kong WSC.


The first IASE/IAOS joint satellite conference, held in Macao from 22 to 24 August, had around 100 participants from 25 nations. In addition to six keynote addresses over three days, participants presented roughly 40 papers and 7 posters. Thanks must be offered to the exceptionally generous support of the University of Macau and the Macao government, including the Statistics and Census Service. Following the joint satellite, many participants transferred to Hong Kong for the 59th World Statistics Congress, joining with over 2,000 people from around the globe. The IASE sponsored roughly a dozen invited sessions; there were additional special topic sessions and one contributed session on topics related to statistical education. The IASE general meeting on Thursday had over 40 attendees, who heard about the IASE's generally good financial condition, new website, and other topics. 2.  Conference Announcement: ICRASTAT-2013


The department of statistics at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India is organizing an International Conference on Recent Advances in Statistics and Their Applications. ICRASTAT-2013 will be held from 26-28 December 2013, in conjunction with the annual conference of the Indian Society for Probability and Statistics. Held as part of the International Year of Statistics, at this conference more than 300 statisticians are expected, from all over the globe. The main aim of the conference is to bring researchers, academicians, corporate workers, and students into a common location to exchange new ideas and applications of statistics. Conference main events include young scientist awards and presentations of student projects.


For those who would like to submit an abstract, the submission deadline has been extended to 1 October, with acceptance notification by 15 October and papers due on 20 November. For all interested persons, registration closes on 15 November. Registration fees vary by field of work. Within India, Industry sponsored employees pay Rs. 5000; Academic scientists pay Rs. 3000; Foreign research scholars studying in India Rs. 2500; Indian research scholars Rs. 1500. Accompanying persons cost Rs. 2000. Foreign delegates are listed at USD 250.
