80 Former Chief Statisticians Condemn Prosecution of Andreas Georgiou

The decision by the Greek Supreme Court to annul the earlier acquittal Andreas Georgiou, former President of the Hellenic Statistical Authority ( ELSTAT),  has been greeted with mounting concern and outrage by the official statistical community. The latest manifestation of this concern is an unprecedented public statement signed by around 80 former heads of national and international statistical agencies. More>>

ISI 2019 - 62nd ISI World Statistics Congress, Malaysia: Submission of STS Proposals open until 15 August 2018

The Chair of the Scientific Programme Committee (SPC) Yves-Laurent Grize and the Chair of the Local Programme Committee (LPC) Rozita Talha are welcoming the statistical community to present proposals for the Special Topic Sessions (STS). Information on the submission process is available on the conference website under the Scientific Programme tab.

Election of ISI Executive Committee and Council Members

The election of ISI Officers for the positions of President-Elect, Vice-Presidents, and Council members will be conducted in August- September 2018. The ISI Nominations Committee has submitted its report and slate of candidates. ISI members can now propose additional candidates. More>>

2019 Mahalanobis International Award

ISI invites nominations for the 2019 Mahalanobis International Award. The award recognizes an individual for lifetime achievements in statistics in a developing country or region and is sponsored by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation of the Government of India. The award will be presented at the 62nd ISI WSC in Kuala Lumpur. The deadline for nominations is 31 August 2018. More>>

2019 Karl Pearson Prize

Nominations for the 2019 Karl Pearson Prize are now open. The Prize, established by the ISI in collaboration with Elsevier Publishers, recognizes a research contribution that has had profound influence on statistical theory, methodology, practice, or applications. The Prize will be presented at the 62nd ISI WSC in Kuala Lumpur. The deadline for nominations is 15 September 2018. More>>

ISI invites submission of papers for the 2019 Jan Tinbergen competition. The awards will be presented at the 62nd ISI WSC in Kuala Lumpur, and the winners will present their papers in the special Tinbergen session at the WSC. The deadline for submissions is 30 September 2018. More>>

The ISI announces the upcoming call for funding opportunities for developing country participants to attend the next ISI WSC in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 18-23 August 2019. The World Bank Trust Fund for Statistical Capacity Building (WB TFSCB) is for permanent residents of developing countries, who aim to expand the statistical capacity in their country through active participation in the scientific programme of the ISI Kuala Lumpur WSC. ISLP Open Meeting at ICOTS10

he ISLP (International Statistical Literacy Project) Open Meeting will be held at ICOTS10, the 10th International Conference on Teaching Statistics, in Kyoto, Japan. The meeting takes place on 10 July 2018 at 12:45-13:45. Come and learn about the ISLP and our statistical literacy activities! The Statistical Poster Competition is on-going, and will continue until March, 2019. More information can be found on the ISLP website. ISLP is generously supported by the Japan Statistical Society.
