The 7th International Conference of the ERCIM WG on Computational and Methodological Statistics (ERCIM 2014) will take place at the University of Pisa, Italy, 6-8 December 2014, and is co-sponsored by the ISI. Tutorials will be given on Friday, 5th of December 2014. The conference website is: www.cmstatistics.org/ERCIM2014.

This conference is organized by the ERCIM Working Group on Computational and Methodological Statistics (CMStatistics) and the University of Pisa. All topics within the Aims and Scope of the ERCIM Working Group CMStatistics (http://www.cmstatistics.org) will be considered for oral and poster presentations. Topics include but are not limited to: robust methods, statistical algorithms and software, high-dimensional data analysis, statistics for imprecise data, extreme value modeling, quantile regression and semiparametric methods, model validation, functional data analysis, Bayesian methods, optimization heuristics in estimation and modelling, computational econometrics, quantitative finance, statistical signal extraction and filtering, small area estimation, latent variable and structural equation models, mixture models, matrix computations in statistics, time series modeling and computation, optimal design algorithms and computational statistics for clinical research.

The Conference will take place jointly with the 8th International Conference on Computational and Financial Econometrics (CFE 2014 www.cfenetwork.org/CFE2014). The CFE-ERCIM 2013 had over 1,200 participants.

Senate House, University of London, UK

14-16 December 2013

The 6th International Conference of the ERCIM Working Group on Computational and Methodological Statistics (ERCIM 2013) was jointly organized with the International Conference on Computational and Financial Econometrics (CFE2 013). The ERCIM 2013 was co-sponsored by the ISI. The organizing institutions were the Department of Economics, Queen Mary, University of London, Department of Statistics, London School of Economics and Birkbeck, University of London, UK.

The conference brought together researchers and practitioners to discuss recent developments in methods and computations for economics, finance, and statistics. The joint CFE-ERCIM 2013 programme consisted of 270 sessions, 5 plenary talks and over 1100 presentations. There were over 1,200 participants. The founder editor of the journal Computational Statistics & Data Analysis (CSDA) Stanley Azen and co-editor Jae Chang Lee  ere honoured during the conference dinner for their dedication and editorial work.

The conference was considered successful in terms of the number of participants, the appropriate venue that provided the appropriate environment to enhance networking, immaculate local organization, but more importantly of the highest research quality of the over one thousand presentations.

The conference was a collective effort by many individuals and organizations. The Scientific Programme Committee, the Session Organizers, the local hosting universities and many volunteers contributed substantially to the organization of the conference.

Looking forward, the ERCIM 2014 will be held at the University of Pisa, Italy, from Saturday, 6 to Monday, 8 December 2014: www.cmstatistics.org/ERCIM2014.
