ISI Associations
The ISI and its seven Associations make up the ISI family.
The idea of Associations — formerly called Sections — was introduced in 1947. While the first Association was formally adopted only in 1957, the fruits of this far-reaching and far-sighted innovation are clearly evident today with seven Associations which cover a wide spectrum of statistical sciences and applications. This change resulted in a new type of professional society, one that facilitated international communication among individuals with common interests.
The ISI Associations participate fully in ISI but also have their own governance structures, conferences — including satellite conferences to World Statistics Congresses — journals and awards.
Association presidents are members of the ISI Council and also meet as a group with the ISI Executive Committee.
The ISI and its Associations work closely together to serve the needs of the international statistical community.
