Brazil Offers to Host the 2015 ISI WSC
in Rio de Janeiro
The ISI Council welcomed the Brazilian offer for hosting the 60th ISI WSC in Rio de Janeiro in 2015.
Mr. Eduardo Nunes, President of IBGE (Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística), and Mr. Sergio D.A. Costa Cortes, Executive Director of IBGE, presented the plans for hosting the 60th ISI World Statistics Congress in Rio de Janeiro. The offer is supported by the Minister of Planning, Budget and Management, the Governor of the State of Rio de Janeiro, and the Mayor of Rio de Janeiro.
The ISI Council welcomed the proposal, because Rio de Janeiro is a very attractive location offering first class congress facilities. Hosting the WSC in Rio de Janeiro also meets the aim of spreading the WSC over the continents after Durban (Africa), Dublin (Europe) and Hong Kong (Asia). The ISI General Assembly, which meets in August 2011 in Dublin, Ireland, will be asked for the formal approval of the Brazilian offer.
