European Population Conference The European Population Conference

The situation regarding the COVID-19 virus is still very volatile. The EAPS Council is closely monitoring the situation and is considering appropriate actions, jointly with our Italian colleagues. All (potential) participants of EPC 2020 will be informed by 5 April at the latest about possible changes in the organization of the conference. This could include extending the Early Bird Registration deadline. Until then there is no need to change your plans for EPC2020. The health of our participants remains our primary concern.

EPC2020 is the hallmark event of the European Association for Population Studies. EPC is a general scientific population conference and the single largest event in its field in Europe. EPC convenes every two years in a different European city. The European Population Conference has become the leading scientific gathering in our field. It convenes experts from a wide range of disciplines as well as the policy and stakeholders communities to discuss the latest developments in population research, population trends and dynamics as well as their causes and implications.

CSM Randomised Controlled Trials Course

Now in its 18th year, the Centre for Statistics in Medicine (CSM)’s Randomised Controlled Trials (RCT) Course is ideal for anyone planning or actively involved in RCTs for healthcare evaluation, particularly those early in their career or looking for a refresher course. This 5-day course uses a problem-based learning approach to provide a thorough grounding in the principles and practice of planning, conducting, analysing, reporting, and interpreting RCTs, mixing lectures and small-group practical work. The interdisciplinary faculty includes registered CTU directors, clinicians, and statisticians, all with a wealth of RCT experience. Faculty includes CSM staff (e.g., Associate Prof Jonathan Cook and Dr Ines Rombach), wider University of Oxford staff (e.g., Prof David Beard and Prof Ed Juszczak), and those from further afield (e.g., Prof Mike Clarke of Queen’s University Belfast, Prof Richard Emsley of King’s College London, and Prof Graeme MacLennan of University of Aberdeen).

This year, in memory of course founder Prof Doug Altman, one sponsored place is available for a student or applicant from an LMIC (applications due 31 March). Sponsorship covers the course fee and accommodation at Merton College. Registration closes on 1 August 2020 or when the course is full, whichever is sooner.

Big Data Meets Survey Science (BigSurv20)

BigSurv20 will be held at Utrecht University, in Utrecht, The Netherlands. The conference offers an opportunity to address the ongoing paradigm shift in how researchers produce, analyze, and use statistics. The event is intended to foster communication, collaboration, and understanding between two groups: (1) computer and data scientists focusing on Big Data sources and analysis techniques, and (2) methodologists and social science researchers working with traditional sources of data collection and statistical analyses. By uniting efforts, we can identify and overcome academic divides and make unified "Big Survey Data" population inference a reality. Utrecht is located a convenient 25-minute train ride from Amsterdam airport, and has excellent train connections to the rest of Europe.

This series of Workshops has a long history, and we welcome the opportunity to hold the workshop once again in India. CRR Day on 17th December 2020 : The present 28th IWMS will be held beside ICLAA 2020 (December 17-19, 2020) and CRR Day will be on 17th December 2017, the common day of events, to celebrate 100 years of C. R. Rao, who is among great Statisticians and Matrix theorist India ever produced. We are sure that 28th IWMS will be a great success with the participation of prominent researchers from across the globe working in Statistics, Matrix Theory and allied subjects. The purpose of the Workshop is to stimulate research and, in an informal setting, to foster the interaction of researchers in the interface between statistics and matrix theory. The Workshop will provide a forum through which statisticians may be better informed of the latest developments and newest techniques in linear algebra and matrix theory and may exchange ideas with researchers from a wide variety of countries. As well as range of plenary speakers we are to strengthening the interactions between participants by organizing a range of minisymposia in various specialist areas.

42nd ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF THE ISCB

The International Society for Clinical Biostatistics (ISCB) was founded in 1978 to stimulate research into the principles and methodology used in the design and analysis of clinical research and to increase the relevance of statistical theory to the real world of clinical medicine. The 42nd Annual Conference of ISCB will be held in Lyon (France), a city located at the confluence of two rivers (Rhône and Saône) and whose old center is registered on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. This Conference will provide statisticians the opportunity to present, discover, and exchange their most recent theories, methods, applications, and experiences in all biological and medical disciplines. It will also be the occasion for fruitful meetings, discussions, and collaborations between researchers in various biomedical fields.
