On the occasion of the World Statistics Day 2020, the International Year of Women in Statistics and Data Science, and the 31st National Statistics Month in the Philippines, the ISI Young Statisticians have organized a workshop on data science for official statisticians to take place on 28-29 October 2020.
Nowadays, a wide range of data is growing rapidly and at a quicker pace for official statistics. Due to the advancement of technologies, we are now capable of gathering datasets, often unstructured, in real time. Analyzing these datasets however can no longer be managed by traditional statistical analysis that are often still utilized by national statistics offices.
Data science, along with these new data sources, can streamline and improve analysis of official statistics and provide richer and more novel insights that will be helpful for policymaking.
Together with the UPLB Institute of Statistics and the Analytical Center for Moscow City Government, we, the ISI Young Statisticians Committee, invite researchers, academics, and policymakers to participate in a free two-day training workshop on Data Science for Official Statistics.
The speaker will be none other than Dr. Elena Zarova, a renowned statistics professor, ChiefScientific Adviser of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, and the deputy head of the Analytical Center for Moscow City Government.
Please note that since we can only accommodate a few participants, max. 250, registrants with an adequate background in R programming will be given priority.
