New ISI Committees: Young Statisticians, Outreach for Latin America, Awards

ISI Young Statisticians Ad Hoc Committee

Participants at the ISI World Statistics Congresses in Lisboa (2007) and Durban (2009), may have noticed that small events at the start of the WSCs were organized for the young attendees. In the spirit of continuity and recognizing that young statisticians are key to the ISI’s future, as well as  that the ISI can play a role in their careers, the ISI Council established an ad hoc working group that is the Young Statisticians Committee. The aim of this Ad Hoc Committee is to identify ways of encouraging active participation from young statisticians within the ISI community. The Committee’s  purpose is to identify where the ISI can help young statisticians from different regions of the world. The Chair is Victor Panaretos - This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

ISI Latin American Outreach Committee

The Council also endorsed the creation of a new Latin American Outreach Committee that will intensify the interaction between the statisticians from countries in the region with the ISI and all of its Sections. The first Chair is Pedro Morettin (This email address is being protected from spambots. The Latin American Outreach Committee is the third of its kind within the ISI, next to the East Asian Outreach Committee and the Khawarezmi Committee on Statistics for the Arab Region.

ISI Awards Committee

The ISI and the Sections have several awards, prizes and certificates that cover various types of papers, presentations and accomplishments by our colleagues in different statistical disciplines. The Awards Committee is established by the ISI Council to guide the juries of the ISI awards, for instance the Jan Tinbergen Competition and the Mahalanobis Award, in order to ensure that the honour of these awards remains through the future. The Sections can benefit from this new process and apply it accordingly to their own awards. The Chair of the Awards Committee is Professor Vincenzo Esposito Vinzi - This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
