PhD in Applied Statistics (Office of Comptroller of the Currency, USA Dept. of the Treasury)

 

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) charters, regulates, and supervises national banks and national thrift institutions. The successful candidate(s) will apply his/her expertise in statistics, sampling methodologies, econometric modeling and/or finance to develop and/or evaluate models that ensure banks comply with a range of regulations from prohibition of money laundering to discrimination in mortgage lending. Unit PhDs have access to a variety of rich proprietary data and are strongly encouraged to pursue an active research agenda. Must be a US Citizen or a Permanent Resident on track to US Citizenship. Major responsibilities for this position include:
evaluating and validating models related to anti-money laundering and housing finance
developing models related to mortgage underwriting and pricing
interacting with bank personnel and examiners
contributing to an active research agenda on topics and methodologies related with AML, housing finance or other topics relevant to OCC mission
collaborate with others on projects that are aimed to enhance and increase use of quantitative analysis in bank exams

 

Qualifications:
PhD in Finance, Applied Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering
Knowledge of STATA, SAS, or other computational software
Ability to communicate effectively and with diverse audiences
A motivated self-starter with a strong sense of initiative
