2013 IASE/IAOS Satellite Meeting

Registration Update

The IASE joint Satellite Meeting with IAOS in Macao, "Statistics Education for Progress", to be held from 21-24 August before the World Statistics Congress in Hong Kong, has updated information on registration and accommodation on the conference website: http://www.conkerstatistics.co.uk/iase2013/

The Statistics and Census Service of Macao, China, is providing incredible sponsorship by funding the Conference venue at Macao Tower; funding equipment rental and manpower support; coffee break catering; lunches; welcome dinner on 21 August; conference dinner on 23 August; closing dinner on 24 August; a half-day local tour; printing of delegate name badges and backdrop/banners; production of conference bags and souvenirs for delegates; photography and video recording. Hopefully, the excellent generosity of Statistics Macao will make it easier for people to attend.

Additionally, there are limited funds available to support presenters from developing countries. Please contact John Harraway, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. , if you believe you qualify.

Though the posted deadline for paper abstracts has passed, there are still a few gaps for presentations. See the conference website for more information on topics. Expressions of interest in presenting a paper should be directed to Brian Philipps at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by end of February. Details of the meeting venue will soon be available on the meeting website (http://www.conkerstatistics.co.uk/iase2013/index.php).

A successful IASE satellite meeting has been held before every recent biennial World Statistics Congress. Next year we have the exciting prospect of meeting with IAOS, an Association with which we share many activities. The umbrella theme of the meeting is "Statistics Education for Progress". All submissions addressing the theme are welcome. The meeting will be conducted in English. General questions about the Satellite Meeting should be directed to Tae Rim Lee ( This email address is being protected from spambots. On August 23rd, the meeting will bring together IASE and IAOS participants under a special theme "Statistics for education: Youth and official statistics". Below are the topics that will be discussed under the theme.

1. Official statistics resources for schools and tertiary education

2. Disseminating official statistics into the real world of youth

3. Training young statisticians

4. Educational uses of youth statistics

Participants who would like to present their research in the joint IASE/IAOS Satellite Meeting are requested, in the case of a presentation related to Official Statistics, to submit their abstract to Sharleen Forbes ( This email address is being protected from spambots.
