ISI Presidents

The first ISI President was Sir Rawson W. Rawson, who held this position from the founding congress in 1885 until 1899. For nearly the entire first century of the ISI, Presidents were in office for relatively long periods of time.

Starting in 1975, the Presidential term of office became limited to a two-year period. However, Presidents are effectively involved in the Executive Committee for four years. Before becoming President, he/she serves as President-Elect for two years. After completing one’s Presidential term, another two years is spent as member of the ISI Council with the designation of Past President. This is to ensure continuity within the ISI governance.
